How to Play
Chess is played on an 8x8 board with 16 pieces per side: one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns. Each piece moves in a unique way. The goal is to checkmate the enemy king, meaning the king is under attack and has no legal escape.
Players alternate turns. A move that puts your own king in check is illegal. The game ends at checkmate, stalemate, resignation, or draw.
Controls
Click a piece, then click its destination. Legal moves are usually highlighted.
Scoring
Win/loss/draw records are tracked. Some modes use Elo ratings.
