Strategies to play smarter and score higher

Memorize cage sums for common sizes, like a two-cell 17 must be 8 and 9.
The total of all digits 1-9 is 45, so each row, column, and box sums to 45.
Use the 45 rule: if a box contains several full cages plus one extra cell, subtract the cage sums from 45 to find the extra cell.
Cages with unique combinations are the easiest starting points.
Place digits that satisfy both Sudoku and cage constraints.
Large cages have many combinations; leave them for later.
